The first month of patrols are behind us and after a few chilly and damp sessions our 4 teams are looking forward to sunnier days.
Beach access for our gear continues to be a difficult process due to ongoing storm erosion to the sand dune. Our board members have met with Shoalhaven Council officers to discuss remediation options for improving access.
The current Bronze and SRC course trainees will complete their course learning modules and practical skills training in early December ready to join S’Heads patrols as Active volunteer life savers for the busy holiday period. Karl will run another course in the new year if we have interest.
Nippers have had a busy start with pool assessments, first day on the beach and then last week went along to the Shoalhaven Heads village swimming pool 50th anniversary celebrations. They are back to the ocean this weekend. A big thanks to the parents and cadets who have volunteered to become Age Managers and do water safety. Surf Life Saving is one of a few sporting organisations where the whole family can get involved in the same range of activities at the same time and we know the kids love having you alongside…. we do too!
A club newsletter has gone out to all current members, and we hope you’ll contribute to the next edition. If anyone has skills in design and publication and can give Nicky, our secretary, a hand, with this, get in touch. It might suit a cadet who is doing media or tech studies at school or college.
The club management board meets on first Monday of the month and is responsible for the governance and compliance as required by our parent organisations Surf Life Saving Australia, Surf Life Saving NSW, South Coast Branch of Surf Life Saving. Our role is to train and maintain the Volunteer Life Saver Service at Shoalhaven Heads and if tasked by regional coordinators to provide interagency support skills and services in emergencies locally and across the state
Over the coming weeks, the club calendar on this website will have dates added for club events when we plan these, plus surf life saving events across our locality and NSW.
If you need to get hold of us, call in for a chat on a Sunday morning during Nippers or Patrol, use Facebook messenger, or email secretary@headssurf.com.au. A photo notice with who’s who on the club management board will be put up in the club soon so you know who to give a shout too.
