What is Nippers

Nippers program is designed to teach children between the ages of 5 and 13 years of age, the fundamentals of surf beach and open water safety. Providing a basic knowledge of water safety, which is vital when swimming at the beach.

Nippers activities are based around  Surf Life Saving Australia’s National Surf Education program structured specifically to the ages and abilities of the children by gradually teaching them the  basic lifesaving skills required to be safe around an aquatic environment as well as developing their skills and confidence to compete in surf sports in an environment which is fun, encouraging and SAFE. They also learn about managing the beach environment and some basic first aid skills.

Nippers are split into Age group’s from Under 6 to Under 14 . As we are a small club we run multi age groups together depending on the numberof children registered each season. Each Age Group is run one of our  dedicated volunteer Age Managers supported by  the water safety team

Nippers activities are aimed at building lifesaving and leadership skills and it is a training ground for tomorrow’s lifesavers.

Everyone is welcome to join in and new members are always  at any time during the season. Give Nippers a try… the kids will love it and parents too!
