First Day of Summer and Nippers has Started

It was great  to  see the new and returning families who came to the first session of Nippers at the pool and brave the chilled La Nina weather for the SLSA swim skill proficiencies. Thanks to patrol cadets Eva, Ilana and Maddie for supporting the kids in the pool. They’ll be helping Kim, JAC (Junior Activity Coordinator ), and parent age managers and assistants, with Nippers every week.

Nippers hit the beach for the first time this Sunday ,Dec 5th. Kim, has been sending regular updates to all registered families and also posting  to the Club Facebook group (Shoalhaven Heads Surf Life Saving Club) so click to join it and check in there, or contact her direct, kim.willett@gmail.com, for latest information. There is still time to renew at sls.com.au/join if you were members last summer or want to join Surf Club as a new member.

Nippers is usually run in all weathers, as we also use the club hall for the off-beach activities in the SLSA Surf Aware programme, but Kim will post on Facebook, or send an auto message to families early on Sunday if Nippers is cancelled for any reason.

Nippers are the heart and future of your surf club but we need families to jump in and help the JAC team each session . Whether it’s getting kit set up and down to the beach, holding the wave jump rope, setting the beach for flags and sprints and kit back up to the club gear shed at the end of the session, running uniform sales or fund raining bbq, extra hands ,skills and a little bit of your  time make the morning a great team effort.

Don’t forget “our club is your club” and  its the families that contribute each summer and socialise together  that bring  new spirit into the club, year in and out. Now we’re moving out of the limits of Covid lock downs we’ll need everyone on board sharing your ideas and planning skills for social events  and fun days , or if you’re handy with tools ,social media , admin or anything else that will help the club in any way  just talk to one of the club nipper team, patrol captain or a board member on a Sunday morning. Or stay around  for  “sunday sippers” on days when the Members’ Bar in the end club room is open.
